Travels in Turkey, Weds. Oct. 16. Your Program Chair once again hogs the October slot, this time to introduce you to the wonders of Turkey, a place with big mountains, rushing rivers, friendly locals, and great cuisine. What’s not to like? Tune in and decide for yourself.
As usual, this is a virtual show, so register now, while slots are available, on the CCA website.
'Fast and Clean,' Fri. Dec. 6 (holiday party). Back in the 1970s, a bunch of kids in the DC area, many of whom were the sons and daughters of CCA members, became fired up, I mean really motivated, to become the best whitewater paddlers in the world as measured in a sport called whitewater slalom. And their final surge to the top in 1979 was beautifully and sensitively captured in a documentary titled "Fast and Clean." Some of the alumni from that group recently rescued the few crumbling copies of the original 16mm work and, lovingly, frame by frame, restored and digitized it into HD perfection, and we want you to see it now on the big screen at Clara Barton. We also hope to have the restorers or creators present for Q&A. For those who can't make it to the party, we hope to share the film via Zoom.
