Programs for 2020

Monday, February 24
A bit over a year ago, we screened a fantasy video about running Niagara Falls. What is not a fantasy is that a few very talented paddlers have successfully navigated the gigantic rapids in the gorge below the Falls. One of those experts is CCA’s own Risa Shimoda, who consented to come and tell her tale of her exciting descent. Do come an join us.

Monday, April 20
“The Great Ride.” It is just amazing how many of our fellow paddlers also enjoy the outdoors by biking. And where better to blissfully roll along than on the 300-mile plus path of the C&O Canal Towpath and Great Allegheny Passage, a route intertwined with our beloved Potomac, Casselman, and Youghiogheny rivers. Pittsburgh’s WQED has produced a delightful documentary on this path called “The Great Ride”, and we invite you to enjoy it with your friends this evening.

Please note the early date. The normal last Monday of the month is booked because the community center is a polling place.

Call for future programs

We are always looking for new talent. We are always looking for ideas. If you take pictures or videos and would like to share them, do not be shy. It can be distant locales or you local favorites. If you have a talent to share, then teach us. If you want to share an alternate outdoor sport (like hiking, backpacking, caving) we would enjoy that too. The program chair would like to hear from you (, 301-585-4381). I eagerly await.
