Volunteers Needed for Potomac River Water Quality Sampling

If you would like to support the effort to ensure that the water in the Potomac River watershed is clean enough for swimming and fishing (which also is great for paddling) and have some time on Wednesday mornings during the warmer months, please consider joining the team of volunteers with Potomac Riverkeeper taking water samples along the river.

Volunteers collect water samples every Wednesday from sites ranging from Riley's Lock/Seneca Creek and continuing downstream into the tidal areas in Washington, DC, and beyond. These samples are used to analyze bacteria content and other water quality indicators, which helps to identify sources of pollution and provides information for the public, available on your smartphone through the Swim Guide app.
