Gus, Jackie and I paddled the GW today at 4 feet returning on the canal. Happy to report some significant changes after the 8 feet plus water two weeks ago. Gary, Ginny and Hendrik shuttled to Pennyfield.
The first log rapid at the top has washed away. Only clean water and very little whitewater.
Slalom course and surfers wave are clean.
Diagonal clean but massive trees have blocked the old entrance to the Patowmack Canal.
Left channel clean and open with lots of playing.
Debris rapid still vicious. Left chute has a new tree across at about neck high. Both center and left are unrunnable.
Last rapid good.
Drained canal paddleable with no obstacles. A little slow but totally doable.
