An evening with Friends of the Rappahannock.
Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM

Flowing by the southern and western fringe of our ever-sprawling metro area, the Rappahannock River is a beautiful, incredibly intact corridor, from its dashing Blue Ridge head to the mouth of its broad tidal estuary. If you have not some of enjoyed it, then you should. We are so fortunate that the river has a protector in F.O.R, and to better acquaint us with its accomplishments, we will be beaming in Brent Hunsinger, their Advocacy and Coastal Programs Director.

As usual, this is a virtual show, so register now, while slots are available, on the CCA website.

How and When Did Great Falls Form?
Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM

CCAers take their paddling to the ends of the Earth, but in the end, our mother river is the Potomac. The club started on it as did most of our paddling careers, and we marvel at how lucky we are to have it in our backyard. So wouldn’t you like to know more about its origins? We seek to answer that this evening by inviting distinguished geologist, Joe Marx, who will give a talk titled “How and When Did Great Falls Form.” We are so lucky to catch a moment from Joe’s busy schedule, so don’t miss this informative evening.

As usual, this is a virtual show, so register now, while slots are available, on the CCA website.

Call for future programs

We are always looking for new talent. We are always looking for ideas. If you take pictures or videos and would like to share them, do not be shy. It can be distant locales or you local favorites. If you have a talent to share, then teach us. If you want to share an alternate outdoor sport (like hiking, backpacking, caving) we would enjoy that too. The program chair would like to hear from you (e_gertler@yahoo.com, 301-585-4381). I eagerly await.
