North Branch Potomac Westernport, MD to Black Oak/Gary Yoder Boat Access
This 9.5 mile trip will take advantage of the 1000 CFS release from the Savage reservoir. The water will be cold, likely 55-60°. The first few miles of the trip down to McCoole feature class 2 rapids similar to those at the end of the Bloomington section of the river upstream. After McCoole the whitewater calms down to class 1, but the scenery improves, with cliffs and rock formations on either side of the river. The trip should take about 3 hours. PN ready to go up a step (due to a a couple of strong Class 2 rapids) and LI.
Contact Lisa Laden at lisaladen@comcast.net for the deets by Friday night if interested in joining the trip. Lisa may not have cell or wifi on Saturday.
