We had 16 paddlers for a late summer GWC trip:
In K1s: Toni B, Alf C, Dmitry D, Jack F, Bob H, Wayne M, Rob R, Kathleen S, John S, Jennifer S, Andrew T, Sandra W; In rubber rafts: Diane H and Marty L, In OC1 Hendrik v and yours truly the Trip “coordinator”
The level was a low 2.98. Once across the river, we split into two groups “the fast” and “the slow” group. Kathleen S graciously agreed to head up the slow group while the TC took the “fast” group. Surprisingly, the fast group was larger with 11 paddlers.
Nothing untoward happened, and all paddled well.
At the Blockhouse transfer trail, John S, Tim, and Alf paused to take some last-minute measurements for the proposed steps up to the Canal towpath. John will meet on site with reps from the Canal Nat'l Hist Park tomorrow.
The turtle count was low, under 5, with one heron fishing on the canal.
