14 paddlers took advantage of some gorgeous weather and a river level of 3.05’ (3120 cfs) on the Little Falls gauge to run the George Washington Canal – Andrew T, Gary & Ginny Q, George F, Greg L, Hendrik vO, Jack F, Jason F, Leo L, Mark W, Max, Robin W, Tim T and Wayne McD. The trip got off to a good start when a bald eagle soared above us at the put-in on the Potomac. Due to the number of paddlers we divided into two groups and both contingents ran the canal without carnage. We had the customary surfing, sharing of tips and, of course, a few knee breaks. Turtle count on the C&O canal was 11, an improvement compared with recent months.
