Despite sliding the 8:00 starting hour for my trip up the Canal scheduled to start from Carderock, 9:00 drew no takers. So I put in at Anglers on a sunny cool day and paddled directly up Widewater to Lock 15 and back, not stopping at all at the outflow brook at the Logwall. Round trip on this slightly bobbed route took under an hour.
Of note on this moist-ground day was discovering by its pleasant noise, a little brook coming down from the Goldmine Tract. One tiny turtle, a pair of small fish leaping u out of the water, and two other boaters completed the list of aquatic creatures encountered. Some excitement at Anglers as I put in b/c the US Navy was performing at least one rescue in the river, possibly two.
