The crowd for Halloween’s Thursday Paddle on Little Falls was big (17 paddlers!) but not very scary (unless you’re scared by a kayak with eyeballs on the deck or another with a small skull). With a temperature that hit 80, bright sun, and fall colors, there was nothing not to like about this last-day-of-October trip. (OK, maybe the rocky, muddy takeout at near-low tide was somewhat not to like.) The gage was 2.79 feet, and the water temperature 60. There were no swims, although there was a combat roll at the bottom of Z Channel and a rather close encounter with the tip of the rocky island separating the Maryland and Virginia channels.
