Potomac River (MD/VA): Brunswick to Point of Rocks. September 7, 2019:
The Little Falls gauge was at 3.0 feet, a medium-low level, for this family cruise from Brunswick MD to Point of Rocks MD on the Potomac River, on a beautiful late summer day.
We had 8 boats with 17 people total: 2 canoes (Ross and family, and Don and family), and 6 kayaks: Tom H. (trip leader), Victoria, Claire, a kids kayak, and Julie and Nathan and family in tandem inflatables.
This flotilla found this river section and water level to be very nice for families: regular riffles mixed in with some class I+ kept things interesting but not challenging, nice for swimming with the kids, and great scenery. Light but omnipresent current kept even the slow boats moving downstream. No hazards to speak of.
