Trip Reports

Remington- Kelly's Ford 4 May
Tim Tilson

You have heard of Christmas in April. Well today we had March in May. Tim Tilson and Hendrik van Oss were the “under card” for the Thursday paddle.  Both were in OC1s and ran the Remington-Kelly’s Ford section of the Rappahannock. The level was a very nice 750 cfs. (4.1?)  The weather was all over the place: overcast with rain, sunny with rain, sunny without rain. The air temps of low to mid 50s was much more like March than May.  There was a 9th grade biology field trip at the Put In doing water sampling.  We saw two muskrats (or maybe they were beavers) a single turtle and a pair of hawks. As Hendrik reported earlier, the No Trespassing signs on river left at Sandy Beach have been removed. So, paddlers may now enjoy either side depending on the sun. A good day on the river.
