Seneca Breaks was fun tonight at LF gauge 4.1. John, Miki, and Barb ran through the dam cleanly, worked left and right down the MD side to seek out surfing waves. Found many, some decent sized. Barb came on a cormorant wrapped in fishing tackle under a strainer that we were able to free. Sat at the takeout for twenty minutes admiring the clouds which transformed from white to cream to apricot with a purple-gray thunderstorm in the background down in VA. Even had a tall boiling-up cumulus cloud wearing a rainbow like a sash. All reflected in the faceted water of the river.
Paddled back up the canal in deepening darkness among frogs, katydids, cicadas and tree crickets talking.
A fine break from the dark times.
