We had a core group of seven paddlers (Alf C, Gary & Ginny Q, Pam W, Paul M, Shae M & Wayne McD) intermittently joined by Barb B, Gus A & Jackie H for a pleasant trip down the George Washington canal. This was Shae’s first trip with CCA, welcome aboard Shae! Level was 3.33 on the Little Falls gauge, the lowest the river has been in 2020. We agreed that at this low a level the right channel of the canal below Diagonal rapid cannot be safely run due to the woodpile at the bottom of the channel. In addition, the log that has been impeding navigation at Diagonal rapid has moved downstream to the bottom of the rapid to be joined by a second log. The best line for this new condition was not immediately apparent. All agreed that the weather was beautiful.
