Goose Creek Attain to Golfcourse Rapid - 450 cfs -...
Author Last Post
Gary & Ginny Quam convened this trip, catching John Snitzer, Peter Ryan, Gordy Lang, and Alf - for a beautiful sunny (65 degrees) return run up the creek to the Golf Course Dam.  Some of us ran it thrice; others tried it another time or two.  Only 50 cfs less than two weeks ago, the rapid seemed about the same.

We told the two Loudoun Co. police consulting each other at the old Rte 7 bridge site that we meant no distespect by parking in front of the large no-parking signs, and they were mellow.

Two or three upsets - one impressive roll-up in the end of the rapid (Peter), several attempts to breast the wave at the dam-sill, but no dice. Having had two near freezing nights just before, the brook must have been near 50 degrees.

One member took it into his head to explore downstream alone, but ultimately rejoined the group.   No turtles sighted.  One great blue, however.

Readers of this TR are alerted to the fine new map of the Goose, now posted on the Club website - under Members Only, documents, Maps.  Many thanks to Ron Canter, coming out of retirement with another more modern format taking you from Evergreen Mills to the Potomac (10 miles,)                                                                                                                                              .
