I disagree with Alf about the level. It was well over 40 CFS perhaps in the hundreds. All the rapids were padded. The class 2 plus rapids were heavy and playable. All the braids were watered and we could take our choice. There was constant additions from side streams. Water was cloudy green, not muddy. It was a river well watered by the recent heavy rains.

We almost paddled Catoctin last Sunday but changed to a less flood damaged upper upper Sideling Hill. It was the best dither ever. Sideling Hill was well watered, delightful and beautiful. Paddled 12 miles in about four hours. We were 5 paddlers: Craig Wolfe, Carrie Singer, Virginia del R, Beth Koller and Barb Brown. Volume at Bellevue (near the Potomac) was 100 cfs, Tonoloway (Needmore) was at 12.
NB: Steve Ettinger recommends 200 at Bellevue, 2,3 hrs later - clearly a lot less will do. Group had about 40 cfs .
