| by Gus Anderson: The level was 4.25. It was a great level for surfing Rocky in long boats and good practice for big water. Gus, Gordon Bare, Chis Oberlin, Sheila, and Ocoee shuttled to Great Falls and put in at Sandy Beach. Sheila, Gordon and Ocoee entered the main river at S Turn. Gus and Chris took the downstream chute to the main river. Gordon and Ocoee got multiple long surfs, Gus got a few and Chris made numerous attempts with a boat that was a little too short to catch the wave. Gordon was also able to catch the wave at Wet Bottom. Gus and Chris attempted a few surfs at the Virginia chute. Barb Brown and Alf Cooley worked out at Difficult Run rapid. The air temp was 90 and the water felt good at 65. |
